Manor in Spoitgendorf, Rostock District

Spoitgendorf is located in the district of Rostock, about 12 km northeast of the city of Güstrow on the A19 highway. The Spoitgendorf manor house is a yellow clinker brick building in the neo-Gothic style by Gotthilf Ludwig Möckel. The architect from Zwickau designed numerous neo-Gothic churches and characteristic castles and manor houses in Mecklenburg. The Gelbesande hunting lodge and the Melkof manor are among his best-known works, along with Spoitgendorf.

Historical details have been preserved inside. The centerpiece is the representative clinker-clad entrance hall with decorative columns and the ballroom with original leaded glass windows. In addition, the historic double doors with neo-Gothic ornaments are worth seeing.

The country mansion is empty, but structurally in good condition and is cared for by a local janitor. In the near future, apartments and vacation apartments are to be built (2011).
